Concept: I created this piece to showcase my son's love for the Lacrosse Game. In the Meskwaki community, we know this game as ATIÍ. My son often struggles with finding the light; he often lives in the shadows due to his fear of not being good enough. Those shadows overpowering his love of the game. One day he will see that his love for the game is the light, he can find his way through the scariest shadows. My son, like the trees and sinew that the ATIÍ stick is made of, he too is strong, his roots in this game are from his Meskwaki people, and as long as he walks this earth, this game will always be a part of who he is.
